Berdine MacLeod, our energetic Activity Coordinator, ensures a wide variety of musical entertainment, social activities and field trips are scheduled each month should our residents choose to take part. She speaks with each resident upon their arrival at the facility in order to acquire a thorough understanding of the interests and activities that give them enjoyment.

Fitness programs, craft activities, pastoral services, pet club, library services, Bible studies, shopping trips, movies, games, birthday parties, musical events, dancing, field trips, and other outings are all part of life at The Briarlea and Mount Royal Eldercare. Holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries are always cause for special celebration.

Family members are important to us. With advance notice, our staff will make every effort to ensure space is provided for small family get-togethers and that they are included whenever they wish to join in on scheduled events. The schedule of activities is posted weekly to allow for family to pre-plan their involvement or visits.

Musical Entertainment - we use local talent whenever possible and residents gain great enjoyment from the variety of fiddlers, step dancers, church, community and youth groups who visit.

Meals

Our resident chefs ensure that meals are delicious, nutritious, and varied. Consideration is given to individual likes, dislikes, allergies, and dietary requirements, and all residents enjoy the home cooking, fresh bread, and desserts of our well-balanced meals, three times a day.

Snacks, which might include beverages, cookies, fruits, crackers and cheese, are also served three times daily at 10:30 am, 3:00 pm, and as desired in the evening.

"I have been working in eldercare for over 15 years and until I came to The Briarlea I never realized how fun it could be to go to work. Everyone is like an extended part of my family. The home itself feels like a home and not a nursing home. There are always lots of smiles to go around!"
